Eric Blankenship
Sheriff Blankenship's law enforcement career began in 2009 as a reserve deputy with the Henry County Sheriff's Office. He steadily advanced through the ranks, serving in various capacities including Patrol, K9 handler, Patrol Sergeant, and Investigations Sergeant. His experience also includes working narcotics as a Task Force Operator with the Alabama State Drug Enforcement Task Force. In January 2021, Blankenship was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Abbeville, a position he held until his election as Sheriff in November 2022.
Currently, Sheriff Blankenship is the President of the Alabama Tactical Officers Association. He also contributes to the Alabama Sheriffs Association Legislative Committee and serves on both the National Sheriffs Association Safe School Committee and the Drug Enforcement Committee.
A native of Henry County, Sheriff Blankenship is deeply committed to his community's future. He aims to provide the highest quality law enforcement services to citizens and maintains an open-door policy. As Henry County's chief law enforcement official, he believes in leading from the front and being an active, working Sheriff.
